I'm not sure if my kids are enjoying this school year yet. They are so quiet - eerily quiet - and very tired. The teachers (at least theirs) are playing it pretty low key these first days, so there is no homework and it seems like (according to my kids) not a lot going on just yet. More of the "getting to know you" type things and the "let's learn the classroom rules and schedule" type stuff.
Trying to find out how their days are is like pulling teeth. I ask leading questions. Mike asks questions. And generally, we get "good, fine, I don't remember". They are tired. They are much less argumentative. They are hungry - dinner is a non issue - they seem to eat whatever is in front of them, quickly. We aren't doing flashcards or reading this week, so the evenings have had practices and then some downtime.
I hope they are liking school. I just can't tell for sure.
At least they aren't crying and they do seem excited to go in the mornings. That's all I can hope for, right?
It's just a bit weird around here is all...
