Books I have read recently...

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling

This was a light hearted easy read.  Entertaining, but not my fave.

Mighty Be Our Powers: How Sisterhood, Prayer and Sex Changed a Nation at War by Leymah Gbowee with Carol Mithers.

This book was awesome.  I saw Leymah interviewed on Jon Stewart and I had to read it.  The struggle Leymah went through in life and for her country is inspiring and at times unbelievable.  One of those "really puts things in perspective" type books.

American Desperado: My Life from Mafia Soldier to Cocaine Cowboy to Secret Government Asset by Jon Roberts and Evan Wright

I love a mafia story.  This was a great non-fiction read.  The only thing that slowed me down was the massive amount of footnotes.

Room by Emma Donoghue

Gut wrenching story.  Emotionally draining, but a good book.

Picking Cotton: Our Memoir of Injustice and Redemption by Jennifer Thompson-Cannino and Ronald Cotton with Erin Torneo

The story behind this book is amazing.  Jennifer was raped, identified her rapist - and he insisted he was innocent.  This book tells how both Jennifer and Ronald survived, came to the realization that she had mistakenly identified him, and how justice was ulitmately served.  Ronald has such a perservering spirit and Jennifer has amazing strength.

If You Were Here by Jen Lancaster

I'm a Jen Lancaster fan, so I will read anything she writes!  This was her first novel and it was great!
