Yesterday was as close to a typical day as we could get. The kids and I ran a bunch of errands, they were jerks, I yelled a lot, they played with friends, I put down bags of rock, we had dinner, I mowed the lawn - you know, the usual.
Elaine's whining about her cast has decreased, but I hold no hope in that being the new norm. Why? Because 1 - she hasn't realized how long it will likely be on her (if you ask her, it's on for 3 days), and 2 - she hasn't realized everything she can't do yet. (She did say when she tried to get a piece of gum out of a pack, "having one arm is NOT good". Amen sister.)
The kids went to bed 10 minutes later than normal for summertime. 10 whole minutes. Within an hour of putting them to bed, Elaine was having night terrors/talking/what have you. Just like her brother. She can answer you, but rambles additional nonsensical information, while crying inconsolably, and kicking her legs. (Warren makes a noise like a cat throwing up and his whole body trembles.) While I know what it is, it is still disturbing. I want to calm her, but can't. I want to tell her to knock it off, which I do, but she can't. So there were multiple trips back and forth to her room to see if she was okay.
On one of those trips, I heard Warren get up to pee. Which is not unusual. However, I noticed the bathroom light when on and off and on and off. Then I heard the bathroom closet door being opened and shut a lot. Weird. I went in and said, "Warren, are you all right?" He replied, "what" and then tried to go downstairs. Great, sleepwalking. So I led him back to bed, he muttered some random things, and then was instantly back asleep. I went back into the bathroom to discover he had peed IN THE BATHROOM CLOSET. He threw his stuffed animal, little Truman, into the hamper and then pissed all over it. I wake Mike up because Elaine is now crying again.
Mike cleans bathroom, Jenny gets Elaine back to sleep, then off to sleep go the parents.
Wait a minute. Now it's 1:55 and she's crying again. I go to check on her. Her blankets are on the floor, she says her arm hurts. As I pull the blankets back up I realize THEY ARE SOAKED WITH PEE. Lights on, change sheets, change Elaine's pajamas, wipe her off, curse about being five and peeing the bed, Elaine back in bed, and me back to bed.
So today I have a ton of piss stuff to deal with - literally. What a fun day I'll have. Happy July 1st to me!

Wow, that is awful; absolutely awful. The one thing I can say is that I have very good sleepers here at my home; and Abbie, has never wet the bed and/or has had a pee accident since she has been potty trained. Caroline has had numerous pee accidents but is still a good sleeper. I credit this to the fact that we have always ran box fans in their rooms since they were babies. The white noise they make has seemed to always calm them. Who knows? All I know is wow, this post made me cringe for you....so sorry for such a bad morning and (night).
